Fluid Life is seeking an experienced Training & Consulting Specialist to join our Reliability Services team in Edmonton. Reporting to the VP, Reliability Services, this person is expected to provide quality training and consulting services to existing and potential customers.

Overall Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Reliability Services team this person brings technical knowledge and decision-making ideas and processes to the department.
  • Present public and private seminars as required.
  • Provides training and assistance to Sales Staff, Lab Technicians and other company personnel in developing their lubrication, oil analysis and equipment reliability knowledge where appropriate.
  • Develops high quality training materials based on customer needs and future expectations.
  • Modifies and updates existing training materials as required.
  • Participates in the organization of all aspects of regular public and private seminars to ensure a professional high quality product in the eyes of the customer.
  • Completes oil analysis audits at client facilities to assess and select appropriate equipment for inclusion in a routine program. This includes identification of the best practical sample location, fitting requirements and testing matrix and frequency.
  • Provide lubrication consulting services and audits to clients providing recommendations in regards to lubrication systems and accessories
  • This person is expected to coordinate and schedule their own workload, include training seminars and consulting services as assigned.
  • Follow all departmental procedures and maintain records as appropriate for each task assignment (i.e. Customer Evaluations, Seminar Materials, etc.)

Qualifications & Experience

This position requires possession of a degree in mechanical engineering or chemistry related field. The person holding this position will have relevant experience (minimum 5 years) in the field of lubrication and oil analysis. Previous experience in one or more of the following industries; Pulp & Paper, Mining, Oil and Gas, Forestry, Transportation, Industrial Manufacturing, Power Generation, and Petrochemical would be an asset. The person is expected to obtain and maintain the CLS (Certified Lubrication Specialist) designation from the Society of Tribologist and Lubrication Engineers and CMRP (Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional) designation from Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals.

  • Must have a sound knowledge of lubricants (oils and greases) including oil types, additives, functions and applications.
  • A clearly defined track record of being competent in the lubrication and oil analysis industry.
  • A passionate results-oriented person dedicated to making a positive difference in developing and achieving goals.
  • Experience with maintenance and reliability assessment programs such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) is as asset.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new software programs are required.
  • Must develop and maintain proficient knowledge in the existing and future Fluid Life software and hardware programs.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Ability to learn and apply new practices and concepts.
