Our client is looking for a senior-level individual to join its Remediation and Liability Management Team. This position will be part of a small, integrated team of technical specialists and program managers that direct consultant work on a large number of projects in Canada. The position will also liaise with key stakeholders including landowners, regulators, consultants and contractors.


  • Manage a large portfolio of downstream remediation sites across Canada
  • Provide technical direction to consultants on downstream remediation projects
  • Communicate and negotiate solutions with challenging stakeholders
  • Evaluate technical evidence for legal claims
  • Ensure remediation project work complies with safety standards and policies
  • Conduct field site inspections

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, or a related field of study
  • Minimum of 10 years of assessment, remediation and project management experience, preferably with downstream sites.
  • Registration, or eligible for registration, with a relevant professional association in Alberta or another province (e.g., P.Eng.; P.Geol.; P.Ag)
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with environmental legislation in various provinces
  • Experience with legal claims relating to contaminated sites
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Based in Calgary and willing to travel within Canada 6 – 10 times per year on short-duration trips
  • Superior organizational abilities, especially the ability to work many short- and long-term issues or projects concurrently
  • High level of technical competence
  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written & oral communication skills
  • Good computer and data management skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak French is not mandatory, but considered an asset.

The main area of focus is remediation of gas stations and bulk service stations. The company also has some refineries and petrochemical plants. The company is looking for experience conducting PSA 1, 2 and 3. Background knowledge working with lawyers, working on legal files is an asset.
