Reporting directly to the Manager, IT Infrastructure of Financial Horizons Group, the System Administrator will be primarily responsible for administering, installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems.

Liaise between technology and the business, focusing on continuous improvement

Work with Financial Horizons Group’s I.T. vendors ensuring that deliverables meet the business unit’s expectations through the systems development life cycle

Acquire solid technical and business knowledge relating to applications and business groups within the Financial Horizons Group

Keep abreast of technical innovations and advancements

User Support/Helpdesk – Act as a point of escalation for IT support issues

Infrastructure Support – Maintains and enhances existing network, telecommunications, server and backup infrastructure and corporate websites to support business requirements and manage risk.

I.T. Governance – Provide input for I.T. policies and procedures (including Information Security policies) that aligns with the enterprise risk management strategy in consultation with management and staff both within and outside the department

Technology Tools – Assist with the deployment and management of various tools to support business operations.

Must be able to learn and support new and fast-changing technologies.

Familiarity with a wide range of office automation products is a must.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently

Bilingual communication, written and spoken (English – French)

Microsoft MTA IT Infrastructure or equivalent experience

2+ years experience implementing and managing Windows Servers including networking, storage, databases and backups

3+ years experience implementing and managing a Windows XP/7/8/10 desktop environment

Experience managing Cisco data networks (WAN/LAN) (CCNA nice to have)

Experience managing Cisco/Mitel voice networks (POTS/VoIP)

Experience managing virtual VMware environments (VCA-DCV nice to have)

Experience administering websites (both internal and external)

Experience with SaaS Applications

Knowledge of the financial services / insurance industry

Experience with insurance agency management systems

A post-secondary degree in Computer Science or related work experience

Physical Demands / Working Conditions:
Working in an office environment

Occasional lifting required up to 50 lbs

Occasional travel within Canada is required

Regular working schedule, Monday to Friday, occasional after hours and weekend work
