Responsible for development and implementation of an effective business plan within a defined territory, including specific goals for managing loss ratios and risk management within your defined territory.

Sales and service of Federated’s products to our defined target markets.

Accountable for achieving specific new sales and retention results, focused on a balanced portfolio of profitable business within the territory.


New Business Production

  • Adheres to the company’s stated objectives and goals.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with potential new clients in accordance with his/her market plan.
  • Participates in and supports all Marketing and Association programs and launches.
  • Ensures that activity and production meets or exceeds the Company’s Performance Expectations as outlined in the Risk Service Coordinators manual.
  • Retains clients at a rate acceptable to the Company.
  • Establishes and achieves annual business plan objectives.

Risk Services

  • Creates a risk analysis for his/her assigned territory on an annual basis, and develops a plan to address substandard business, striving to achieve an acceptable loss ratio in his/her territory.
  • Supports and helps implement risk services for clients as developed and prescribed by the company.
  • Supports and maintains effective working relationships with Field Risk Analysts and Senior Risk Analysts.
  • Adheres to stated company standards of underwriting acceptability.
  • Supports established submission processes and coordinates effectively with assigned risk personnel.

Territory Administration and Service Standards

  • Territory results are communicated to the Field Operation Manager on a weekly basis.
  • Provides superior customer service related to Federated’s products and services.
  • Ensures the following administrative or service responsibilities meet the standards set out in the RSC manual.
    • Completion of annual client reviews
    • Insurance applications, premium payments and policy changes
    • Company service requests
      • Maintains well documented files in good order.
      • Builds and maintains a well-documented and up-to-date market book.
      • Internal and external correspondence is handled professionally and promptly.

Teamwork and Communication

  • Where appropriate, participates in the training of other Risk Services Coordinators.
  • Develops and maintains professional working relationships with all the people of Federated, its clients and prospects.
  • Provides front line support to Federated Loss Prevention and Risk Department personnel.
  • Participates in Association functions as deemed appropriate by the FOD/FOM.
  • Assists as requested in the recruiting of new RSC’s by the FOD/FOM.

Personal and Professional Development

  • Demonstrates an above average level of leadership, professionalism and personal integrity.
  • Actively participates in industry and sales training as prescribed by the company.
  • Obtains the appropriate license(s) within the time frames published by the licensing body in the RSC’s respective province.
  • Obtains the mandatory continuing education credit hours required to renew all licenses held by the RSC during the current license period.
  • Utilizes Federated’s current product and skills training materials to enhance self-development and product knowledge.


  • Meets the personal qualification standards set for the provincial insurance licensing.
  • Previous sales experience or an equivalent position dealing with interpersonal relationships.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
  • Obtains a favourable overall assessment from the Prevue Assessment evaluation.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Abstract.
  • Above average comprehension and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability and mathematical aptitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Sincere desire to believe in, sell, and service our products.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers.
