The Product Development Engineer in Computer Aided Engineering Team (CAE Engineer) will be based in Windsor, ON at the FCA Automotive Research and Development Center. The CAE Engineer’s responsibilities will include: lead various simulation analysis (Computational Fluid Dynamics, Multi-body Dynamics, and/or Finite Element Analysis) efforts on components and systems to support product development and validation (ex. DVP, DFSS, proof of concept, etc.). In this role the CAE Engineer will develop appropriate analysis procedures (where there is no precedent), build mesh or model and analyze systems, run analysis and decode the results. In addition, to analyzing of the data, the CAE Engineer is responsible for writing thorough reports for the end Customer to aid them in new product designs for the future. The CAE Engineer may also be asked to design new product components or systems through use of CAD software and make modifications for use in simulation runs. The CAE Engineer will be expected to: simultaneously execute multiple projects of high complexity requiring the independent application of advanced engineering techniques; will be required to communicate effectively with fellow Engineers, management team, customers (i.e. requesting Engineers) and all Team members at the ARDC facility. Overall, the CAE Engineer must be a self-directed and results-oriented individual, and must utilize project management skills in the organization and execution of project assignments.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree from accredited University
  • Minimum 5 years of overall Engineering experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in simulation analyses and/or design development
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of Engineering mechanics
  • Comfortable in a laboratory environment with union workforce
  • Written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Organizational and project management skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in CAD and CAE software is highly desired — particularly NX, StarCCM+, CFD software
  • Working knowledge of TeamCenter
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • DFSS Green Belt Certification
