Under the direction of the Manager of Parenting Services, this position assists clients referred to Project Parent North with parenting skills, life-skills, home management skills by engaging families in skill based educational programs, by observation of positive child care skills, by providing one on one support to parents and their children. This position refers clients to community agencies and assists them with accessing services, and provides transportation to and from the program as required.

Qualifications

– A diploma in Social Services (2 years).
– Minimum of one year of experience in the social services field.
– Knowledge of child development and positive parenting skills.
– Knowledge of child abuse guidelines and reporting requirements.
– Knowledge of cross cultural issues and community resources.
– Class 4 Unrestricted Dr. License.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
– Ability to facilitate and teach groups.
– Ability to work with coworkers and clients.
– Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
– Ability to organize workload and work with minimal supervision.
