Wildlife Control Officer (WCO) for Falcon Environmental Services, Inc. at CFB Trenton Falcon Environmental Services, a leader in the field of airport wildlife management, is looking for a responsible individual to join our wildlife management team at CFB Trenton. Starting date: Training and security screening as of January 2017. Scheduled work shifts from March 2017 to December 2017. Schedule: Contract operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Candidate will be required to work shifts, holidays and weekends included; must also be willing to work on call. Shift lengths and number of hours worked vary seasonally. Seasonal full-time job. Job description: As a Wildlife Control Officer, you will be using various tools and methods to mitigate the risks posed by hazard wildlife on the CFB Trenton airfield. Your daily duties will contribute to keeping the airfield safe for Canadian Forces personnel. As a member of our close-knit on-site team, your tasks will comprise of the following but may not be limited to: · Learning and developing skills relative to wildlife abatement and dispersal methods, including but not limited to discharge of pyrotechnics, deployment of falconry birds and trapping activities; · Identifying wildlife and collecting data on species and abatement interventions; · Handling, flying, and husbandry of falconry birds; · Maintaining company vehicles and other equipment in safe and operational order; · Completing forms and daily activity reports. · Interacting with military and civilian personnel. Requirements: · You are able to work alone, as well as part of a team. You are autonomous, trust worthy and able to make decisions; you show good judgment in high-stress situations. · You are in good physical condition and enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions. · Your past and present personal background enables you to pass an Enhanced Background Check by the Federal Government. You have a clean and clear criminal record (no drug or alcohol convictions). · You have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (documentation in support of this must be supplied by successful candidate), as well as a reliable vehicle to get to work. · You have prior hunting and trapping experience. · You may have experience in species identification (birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles). · You may have previous experience working with animals as successful candidate will be required to work and care for falconry birds (falcons and hawks). · You communicate efficiently in English (spoken and written). · You are proficient with Office suite programs (Excel, Word) and familiar with computers and tablets. · Having a degree in biology, environment, wildlife technician certificate or something related. · Licenses and Certifications: o Firearms possession and acquisition certificate (PAL) mandatory; o Completion of Ontario Hunter Training course and possession of valid small game license mandatory; o Restricted Radio Telephone License an asset; successful candidate will be required (at their own cost) to acquire this if not already licensed.
