We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer II for our Montréal (Ville St-Laurent) location. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, documentation, validation and testing of the electromechanical part of the product.

This position is a contractual position of a duration of 6 to 9 months, but could possibly be longer if needed and bring you to a permanent position.


Estimate efforts to design and document electromechanical products.

Ensure that the costs of activities related to mechanical engineering respect the budget.

Plan and establish activities related to mechanical engineering.

Follow-up on mechanical engineering or other activities related project’s progress as well as the monitoring of product costs.

Estimate the costs of mechanical products.

Ensure the cohesion of the project/mandate team and its progress towards the common goal.

Analyze and assimilate technical specifications and standards.

Design and document electromechanical products: assembly drawings, diagrams, and supervise formatting.

Participate in design reviews of electromechanical products.

Check and approve the documentation of mechanical products (if technically competent to do so).

Provide support for obsolete products.

Define the necessary tests (routine and qualification) with the Engineer / Test Designer.

Validate the test equipment built with the Engineer / Test Designer and the Electrical Technician.

Offer support to our manufacturing sites and suppliers, remotely from Montreal or on the site in Plattsburgh, NY.

Choose test facilities and enter requests.

Make requisitions for parts manufactured by suppliers or obtain parts for manufacturing in-house.

Ensure all equipment required for testing has been calibrated.

Run the tests with or without the Engineer / Test Designer.

Write test reports.

Perform failure analysis, including report and presentations to clients.


Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or the equivalent recognized by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

Training in dimensioning and geometric tolerances.

Have a minimum of 5 years experience in product design, system qualification and manufacturing validation.

Proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio).

Experience with SolidWorks Mechanical 3D, and Simulation.

Excellent knowledge in design of mechanical drive mechanisms.

Leadership, autonomy, initiative and developed sense of priorities.

Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively explain complex technical problems.

Bilingualism (English and French) in oral and written form.

Be available to travel 10% of the time.

Must be able to travel to the United States for business trips.

Hold a valid driver’s license.

Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec

Experience in a formal project development environment

WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) Certification

Experience in public transit or rail transportation

Knowledge of AutoCAD 2014.
