Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Corporate Communications Director will be responsible for helping to define, implement and execute integrated communications plans covering External Communications, Media Relations, Investor Relations, Crisis Communications, Internal Communications including translation services, Employee Engagement, Corporate Event Planning, and Philanthropy. The role encompasses all Fairstone business units, products, services and Corporate Communications. An essential component of the role is to successfully work in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders including the executive team and cross-functional teams. The position demands flexibility and the capacity to deal with fast-changing situations as well as having the personality and skills to work with a diverse local and virtual team. The person in this role must be able to successfully manage projects and agency teams, while having the personal capability to lead projects without agency support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee corporate crisis management communications, in partnership with the executive team
  • Lead coordination of media relations
  • Lead Internal Communications team to generate editorial content for national and regional communication channels
  • Manage internal communications initiatives working in partnership with business units and cross functional teams
  • Manage translation services across all teams
  • Lead corporate sponsorship and community engagement planning working in partnership with the business
  • Lead corporate event planning and execution
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with executive teams and business units responding to their needs while balancing organizational priorities.
  • Coordinate all aspects of conference engagements
  • Develop new ideas and distinctive communication programs to enhance the reputation of the company with both external and internal clients
  • Supervise third parties in implementing communications activities
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with Provincial Regulatory offices
  • Close interaction with Investor relations

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or equivalent work related experience
  • Media relations experience required
  • Investor relations experience preferred
  • Financial services experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual (English and French) preferred
  • Excellent inter- and intra-personal skills
  • Agile, self-driven, high energy, positive, quick learner, and enjoy working in a fast-pace environment
  • Strong understanding of the importance of compliance, integrity and corporate ethics
  • Minimum 10 years experience in corporate communications
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing communications programs including writing and editing for executive-level staff
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Proven experience leading, cross-functional strategic initiatives
  • Corporate event planning experience
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, time management skills
  • Ability to engage across the franchise with senior business leaders and teams
