Candidates are invited to apply to the temporary full time position of ASSISTANT DIRECTOR of CARE for Extendicare Sunset located in Regina , SK. This facility is home to 152 Continuing Care residents.

Reporting to the Director of Care, the ADOC assists in the management of all aspects of the Nursing Service and ensures the effective and efficient delivery of care as per the Long Term Care Standards of Extendicare, Accreditation Canada and Saskatchewan Health.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 Assists in the management of all aspects of nursing care within the facility to ensure quality resident care through the effective, efficient delivery of established standards within legislative and budgetary requirements Assists the Director of Care in the implementation and evaluation of the nursing service quality improvement initiatives, risk management systems, data collection and analysis, report writing and procedural updates Assists the Director of Care in addressing resident, family and staff concerns. Works collaboratively with the Director of Care on administration of both SUN and SEIU collective agreements. Takes the lead in the coordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care (i.e. falls, restraint use, wound management). Assists the Director of Care in maintaining a system for resident care assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation that maximizes staff resources and contributes to Extendicare Sunsets Interdisciplinary Team approach to resident care.  Assumes responsibility for managing the nursing service in the absence of the Director of Care

QUALIFICATIONS

• Membership or eligible for membership with Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) or Saskatchewan Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association (SRPNA) * Managerial experience in long-term care as well as knowledge of applicable legislation, unionized settings and labour contracts; comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices is preferred. * Effective human resource, communication, relationship building, time management and planning skills are required
