Our Horizon Aerodrome location is seeking an experienced Mechanic to support our diverse operations. This position is a rotational camp position with a seven (7) day on and seven (7) day off schedule. Flights and accommodations are provided.

Main Functions:

The Mechanic is responsible for the overall maintenance of required equipment needed for the proper function of Ground Services and Aerodrome Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, service and maintain airfield heavy equipment and ground service equipment in accordance with federal and company regulations, including, but not limited to, changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts.
  • Diagnose diesel/gas engines, electrical, hydraulic, driveline malfunctions and making required repairs.
  • General maintenance and repair activities related to Aerodrome Operations.
  • Use electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, lubrication equipment and other vehicle repair tools and equipment, and operate said tools and machinery in a safe effective manner.
  • Use of measuring devices and understanding of visual displays.
  • Inspect and operate all equipment to be repaired for testing and movement to and from shop.
  • Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports, and record details on prescribed forms and databases in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ability to source, locate, and arrange delivery of replacement parts.
  • Inventory management.
  • Housekeeping duties, including cleaning of ground service/other equipment, maintenance facility and general operations upkeep.
  • Assist with general Aerodrome activities as required.
  • Maintain a tidy and orderly work area exhibiting pride in work performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Ensure exceptional, courteous and respectful customer service through compliance and participation in the Company’s Step Up to Customer Service Program.
  • Comply with and participate in the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certification in either of the following: Heavy Duty Mechanic trade, Commercial Transport.
  • Diesel mechanic, Automotive, Truck & Coach, hydraulics experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to meet all required pre-employment and site access screening including, but not limited to, Construction Safety Training System (CSTS), Horizon Site Safety Orientation (HSSO) and Drug & Alcohol test.
  • Able to obtain and maintain aviation specific requirements such as an AVOP, ROC (aeronautical), RAIC.
  • Able to work inside shop and outside shop in all weather conditions.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electronic systems.
  • Welding skills.
  • Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or regulatory/safety environments.
  • Able to work autonomously, adapt to different situations and manage stress.
  • Demonstrate good teamwork skills and maintain positive interactions with others.
  • Good verbal, reading comprehension and writing skills.
  • Dedicated to getting the job done while meeting established standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Professional, punctual, meticulous and diligent.
  • Able to work collaboratively as a productive member of the EFC Team.
