Event coordinator and Banquet Assistant Internship
RB Planners Inc.

The rapidly expanding company is looking for an energetic, innovative and self-motivated Banquet Assistant and event coordinator. It is a fantastic opportunity for a leader who can work closely with customers, organize wedding and events, and manage staff.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage banquet staff and facilities
  • Schedule staff and maintain an efficient operation
  • Takes initiative to help staff if required under pressure
  • Create work checklist for staff
  • Train and discipline staff
  • Oversee all food and beverage operations, supervising, coaching and motivating employees
  • Ensure an exceptional member and guest experience and handle client inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Liaise with other business units to help develop operational plans, including staffing requirements, supplies, inventory and workflow timelines
  • Maintain a safe, healthy and clean environment.
  • Check all function rooms to ensure they are ready, with all equipment in good working order
  • Communicate regularly with managers, chef and sales department
  • Efficiently prepare for events 2 weeks in advance
  • Be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Experience

  • Strong hospitality industry experience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Sales and marketing experience
  • Knowledge of health department rules and regulations, and liquor laws
  • Experience with managing budgets, operations and inventories would be an asset
  • Willingness to work full-time hours and a variety of shifts
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with inventory management

Please note this is an unpaid internship with a minimum of 6 months commitment. Cash bonus of $500 will be paid at the successful completion of the term, along with the possibility of a full time job offer.

*Late nights and weekend availability a must.
