Event and Attractions Host – Various Facilities Job Number : 19421 An Event and Attractions Host works at City of Edmonton attractions and recreation facilities providing superior customer service by greeting guests, and answering their questions at events held in a rental facility.

They are experts in the fine art of being friendly, enjoy assisting the public and working on their feet. They approach situations calmly and diplomatically to ensure events are well managed and enjoyable for the patrons in attendance. In this role you will:

  • Use your highly developed oral communication skills to provide information to facility visitors, primarily in person
  • Provide detailed information about the facility and services to patrons and special needs visitors
  • Control admission to various areas of the facility
  • Use standard office equipment including computers and two way radios
  • Provide minor first aid assistance, when needed
  • Ensure the safe, fun and appropriate use of event facility by guests
  • Act upon all comments or complaints in a prompt, friendly manner and document all for follow up by supervisor
  • Perform related duties as required

Qualifications
:

  • Completion of Grade 12 grade with emphasis on general office practice or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved school/college
  • Experience in providing customer service, cash handling, and computer applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide accurate information in a confident, professional and personable manner
  • Experience working as an event host (or similar role) making guests feel welcome and responding to requests is an asset
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Facility and Booking Rentals CLASS modules would be an asset
  • Ability to converse in a second language is an asset
  • Possession of current Standard First Aid and CPR certification is required prior to commencement of employment
  • Applicants must be able provide their own transportation to all work locations as transit service may be limited
  • An original Police Information Check or Certified Criminal Record Check issued within the past 6 months that is satisfactory to the employer will be required before starting in the position. The new hire will be required to obtain this check from Edmonton Police Services

Hours of Work: 0 – 30 hours per week. Casual Hours. Sunday to Saturday. Early morning, evenings and weekends may be required. Shifts vary based on facility operating hours and rental bookings, between the hours of 5:00 am to 1:00 am. On occasion, 10 hour shifts may be required

Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 003, $18.111 – $22.378 (Hourly). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton. This union contract is currently under negotiation
