Company Description

EREH is an Edmonton-based real estate development and investment group of companies. We are looking for a Bookkeeper/ Junior Accountant to join our team. This is a unique opportunity for someone to join our growing company and to see your work make a difference. Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will be someone who has a ‘roll-up your sleeves’ attitude and who is a driven and results-oriented team player.

The position works from the Acheson Business Park, five minutes west of Edmonton. This is a keyholder position, and the successful candidate must be bondable and pass a security check.

The successful candidate will also be someone who is constantly looking for ways to improve our processes as we grow and expand. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, pitches in, and never says “that’s not my job”.

The incumbent will be accountable for multiple lines of business, and will be expected to meet strict deadlines and balance competing priorities.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare accurate and timely journal entries;
  • Execute accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoicing support, collections and maintaining customer accounts;
  • Data entry of hours and earnings in compliance with labour standards for payroll;
  • Prepare payroll related reports;
  • Track and account for employee sick days, vacation days, and other HR metrics;
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and forecasts for management review;
  • Prepare monthly accruals (revenues/costs);
  • Prepare and analyze project budgets;
  • Prepare project costing analyses/reports;
  • Reconcile corporate banking transactions;
  • Prepare corporate income tax returns and prepare/file GST returns;
  • Identify and lead business process improvement initiatives;
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative duties to support the business as necessary, including opening and closing the office, assisting with telephone answering, and filing.


  • Diploma or degree in accounting/finance or related discipline;
  • 5+ year(s) accounting experience;
  • Previous experience in payroll is considered an asset;
  • Previous experience with Simply Accounting and QuickBooks;
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Impeccable attention to detail;
  • Excellent internal and external client relation skills;
  • Excellent ability to work under limited supervision;
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative;
  • Above average analytical and problem solving skills.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) salaried position, with benefits and growths potential. Salary is negotiable depending on experience. Position is Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5 PM.
