Englobe is pleased to offer a career opportunity to an ambitious junior materials technologist who enjoys participating in a variety of projects from multiple sectors and a diverse client base. We supply geotechnical exploration, design, laboratory testing, construction management and inspection/testing services to energy, institutional, transportation, industrial, commercial, communication, and residential clients. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will participate in construction inspections, field and laboratory testing, and reporting for the development and construction of roads, subdivisions, bridges, buildings, retaining walls and municipal infrastructure. You will work in collaboration with the engineering team to meet the objectives of projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and Atlantic Canada. More specifically, you will:

Responsibilities

Carry out Quality Control (QC) and/or Quality Assurance (QA) services on a variety of laboratory and field construction projects involving placement of aggregates and Portland cement concrete (PCC), as well as hot-mix asphalt paving;
Report field and laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, PCC and hot-mix asphalt (HMA) samples;
Assist and support senior laboratory and field staff;
Promote and facilitate business development to a growing client base; and,
Develop an extensive knowledge in various Departmental and materials testing specifications.

Qualifications

Qualifications
Technical degree or diploma in civil engineering (or equivalent);
Minimum one year of working experience in a similar engineering field;
Member of Professional Engineer and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) or Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Newfoundland and Labrador (AETTNL)
Team-oriented and an excellent communicator;
Valid driver’s license; and,
Willingness and ability to travel throughout Newfoundland and Labrador on an occasional basis.
