Manager, Pipeline Research

Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Manager, Pipeline Research to oversee and direct the daily and annual operations and activities of assigned technical staff within the department to support development of pipeline therapeutic candidates and advancement of platforms combined with the introduction of new candidates and technology enhancements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Within the department of Pipeline Research, Managers ensure processes have been defined, implemented and are effective for:

Strategic operational/program planning and prioritization of initiatives that lead to new or improved products or systems including the: Integration of the initiatives with other groups internal and external to the organization and; Effective communication on such initiatives with Directors, peers, staff and external organizations.

Resource allocation and monitoring including budget and staffing model preparation (for departments, functions, or systems) and capacity monitoring of routine operations and remedial and enhancement projects. Accurate asset tracking and equipment prevention programs/agreements updated.

Functionality (systems) and Infrastructure (organization alignment) ensuring both are optimally designed, implemented and performing including: continuous process improvement to assure compliance with regulations and industry standards; efficient and reliable processes; and management of non-concurrence and personal versus professional behavior.

Management review including the monitoring, analysis of data (metrics and measures) and timely action to ensure that process outcomes are achieved or deviations are prevented.

In conducting these duties Managers: Demonstrate leadership by ensuring decision making and communication are focused on Emergent’s vision and values; and Influence, interpret and implement policies as directed by Directors.

Responsible for managerial functions such as designing, tracking of databases and database management; managing budgets, procurement, requesting quotations and preparing research on equipment; and planning and executing experimental design.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Attainment of a University degree or Canadian equivalent in a science related to the work being carried out.

3+ years’ experience preferred in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with systems and processes stated.

Lab experience with assay development, documentations, presentations (posters, conferences, publications)

Previous lab management experience including training and supervising students and staff is required

Project development and communication and intellectual property – patenting experience considered an asset

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products is required as is knowledge of employment standards and safety legislation

Basic knowledge or experience in SAP considered an asset
