Accountabilities: As a member of the T&D Technical Services team, you will be responsible for all aspects of civil engineering within the substation, including:
Detailed design of substation structures; steel and wood
Detailed design of substation footings; primarily reinforced concrete
Site development/drainage design
Topographical survey and geotechnical report analysis
Provision of technical expertise in matters related to substation civil engineering
Cost estimates for substation civil projects
Planning and preparation of technical specifications that support the NSPI capital plan
Project management on a variety of substation projects
Keep abreast of industry development, standards, regulations, codes
Identify and initiate projects that add value to Nova Scotia Power
Contribute to a work environment based on mutual trust and respect while carrying out all work in a safe and effective manner
Some travel may be required.
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience: The successful candidate will possess a Civil Engineering degree with 5-10 years’ experience. Experience directly related to the design of substation structures and footings would be ideal. The candidate has demonstrated strong organizational and management skills in designing, and managing projects. You are a team player, possess a high level of initiative, have good communication skills, and work well under pressure. You must be a professional engineer licensed to practice in Canada.
