Electrometals is looking for a summer student who wishes to gain a deeper understanding of the commercial applications of metal powders. The successful applicant is currently studying science or engineering at a recognized post-secondary institution with an interest in commercial applications of new technologies.

The work term would be 3 to 5 months depending on availability with scope of work to include: -

• Market research into specific areas of interest.
• Technical research investigating key parameters by means of laboratory trials.
• Preparation of a final report to include the results of market research and laboratory trials as well as recommendations for future work where opportunities exist.

The successful applicant will interact with the project team who will provide guidance in terms of the direction of the research, key target markets that are of interest, key product specifications and other facets of the study.

Candidate Specification

• High school diploma and currently studying science or engineering at a recognized post-secondary institution (most likely Chemistry, Physics, Metallurgy, Material Science or Chemical Engineering)
• Experience working in a laboratory environment
• Experience conducting market research an asset
• Self-starter with ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Proven planning, organization, data interpretation and deadline delivery skills
• Fully proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct market research with a keen eye for opportunity
• Conduct laboratory trials under the direction of program leader
• Collect data, analyse and report on results with insightful recommendations
• Communicate with other members of the team and technical experts
