The International Student Advisor will provide advice and assistance to prospective students, parents, agents and District staff regarding international student matters.

ABOUT YOUR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • a diploma in a related field
  • a minimum of one year related experience
  • fluency in a second language or multi-language fluency
  • excellent communication, problem solving and crisis management skills

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The International Student Advisor will:

  • coordinate with service providers to ensure maintenance, growth and ongoing success of the International Student Program in addition to other programs such as student exchanges and short term programs
  • communicate with all stakeholders in coordinating with Homestay and District staff to ensure that international student applications and placements are dealt with efficiently and effectively
  • liaise with schools regarding student registrations and orientations, placements, programming, attendance and behaviour
  • respond to a high volume of inquiries generated from the District’s International Programs’ website
  • liaise with various agencies including Citizenship and Immigration Canada and Canada Homestay Network
  • clarify application processes, procedures, and checklists, and conduct face-to-face meetings
  • ensure that District information is up-to-date and available electronically via Staffroom
