Edmonton John Howard Society is a community based not for profit crime prevention agency that has been operating in Edmonton since 1949. Our mission is “through our programs and services we work to prevent crime and to help people affected by crime.
As Bail Navigator you will provide support and resources to individuals who are in need of bail assistance. The program will assist individuals to arrange their bail and provide them community connections to meet other barriers. The goal of the Bail Navigator program in to help reduce the number of inmates in the Remand Centre. The Navigator will complete a brief needs assessment with the individual. Based on their identified barriers, the Bail Navigator will provide them with community connections/referrals.
There are two positions available during the one year pilot . The shifts for the 2 positions are:

  • Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Monday – Friday 3:00PM – 11:00AM

These hours are subject to change depending on the needs of the project.
Critical Criteria:

  • Diploma in Humans Services
  • 2 years’ experience working within the adult justice system
  • Ability to collaborate well with law enforcement members
  • Ability to remain calm and focused when interacting with individuals in a high stress environment
  • Experience working within a client centered approach
  • Knowledge of criminal justice system
  • General computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong knowledge of community resources
  • Professionalism within all aspects of employment and able to contribute to a strong team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within a fast paced, high work volume program
  • Completes clear concise reports and documentation in a timely manner
  • Actively pursues and collaborates productively with partners in the work site
  • Assesses and responds promptly and effectively to situations effecting the safety of clients, staff and the community
  • Communicates information and ideas clearly, concisely and respectfully during interactions with client, community program partners and other professionals
  • Understand and practices the EJHS mission, vision, values and agency guiding principles
  • Criminal Record Check, Enhanced Reliability and Child Intervention Check

Compensation: $44,000 – $46,000/year with a competitive benefits package available upon successful completion of the probationary period.
