As the Family Support Worker in the E4C- Early Learning Division you will provide support, information, advocacy and community connections to families. You will deliver weekly parent and play groups and regular home visits. As well as working independently, team work is a critical component of this position. You will work within a variety of team settings.

  • Schedule and attend regular home visits with the families on your caseload.
  • Through a family-centered approach you will support the family in identifying and reaching their goals.
  • Maintain professional and ethical boundaries and approach each family with cultural sensitivity.
  • Provide information and support for children transitioning into other programs.
  • Advocate on behalf of the family, but more so empower the family to become their own advocate.
  • Make appropriate referrals within the family’s community to increase their positive support systems.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Deliver developmental screenings on each child, make appropriate referrals and provide strategies and supports to the family.
  • Engage and attend play group with parents.
  • Plan and deliver weekly parent groups. Topics are based on parent interest, cultural diversity and individual group needs.
  • Participate in debriefing and consulting with program partners (O.T, CASA, SLP, AB Health).
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings and other community meetings to network and establish collaborative partnerships.


  • Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Ecology, Child and Youth Care.
  • Clear Youth Intervention Record Check and Police Information Check.
  • Current Child Care First Aid and CPR.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver License and proof of vehicle insurance, registration and driver abstract.


  • 2 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Team focused, service-oriented and capable of communicating with employees of all levels.
  • Seek ways to improve processes and contributes to finding efficiencies for enhanced service.
  • Respond to new and innovative ideas in an effort to effectively problem solve.
  • Continually strive to develop professional knowledge and committed to continuous self-improvement.
  • Take personal accountability to deliver the best service to all service users, community members, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Take action to ensure the provision of equitable care/service and the consideration of individual needs.
  • Ability to foster academic/non-academic skills and broaden service user horizons.
  • Demonstrate compassion, acceptance and recognizes individual differences
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Excel, PowerPoint.
