E4C is a not-for-profit organization that works across Edmonton, helping people get what they need to
tackle life’s challenges. At E4C, we are working to limit, alleviate and ultimately eliminate poverty in
Edmonton. Everyone has a story . . . and we believe in a future where poverty isn’t part of it.

A partnership between Alberta Health Services and E4C has launched an exciting project opening three
new complex needs transitional houses in 2017. Our houses will offer a safe and supportive place for
clients to stay while planning their next transition.

Our houses have recovery oriented services using a harm reduction model, a welcoming environment,
inclusive care, and a commitment to excellence. We are looking for energetic, passionate and dedicated
individuals to deliver our wellness focused client support model.

Hours: Full-time awake, 40 hours a week, 4 on 4 off rotation 10:00am-8:00pm

In Your Role You Will
 Be the first point of contact, decision-making, and support at night for staff from up to 3 sites,

with residents ranging from emerging adults (14-25) to adults (25-65), who may be under the
influence or active in their addictions, or actively struggling with mental health issues.

 Support staff in de-escalating crisis situations via the phone or in person; responsible for decision
making authority while on shift.

 Crisis intervention and one-on-one support for residents and/or staff.

 Review Incident Reports (IRs) and complete follow up, as needed
 Complete Critical Incident Reports (CIRs), as needed

 Provide debriefing for staff and residents when necessary.
 Comply with all legislation, bylaws and standards (health, fire, safety, city, and accreditation).

 Understand and practice E4C’s operating policy and procedures and programming policy and
procedures.

Education/Experience/Certifications
 Bachelor level degree and/or Diploma in Social Work, Child Youth Care, Nursing, or human

service field or equivalent AND three years of related direct service work experience.
 Experience and interest in working with street-involved people.

Experience working in high pressure, emotionally challenging situations on a regular basis.

 Experience using evidence based models of practice.
 Current Suicide Intervention First Aid and CPR.
 Valid Driver’s License, registration and insurance, and operation of personal vehicle required

Competencies
 Strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.

 Working knowledge of community resources available to participants

 Strong crisis intervention/de-escalation skills.
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 Ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
