Overview of the position

The Dynamic Structures team is looking for a Project Accountant for an 18-month full-time contract (with possibility of extension) to support our portfolio of projects. As the successful candidate, you will report to the Controller and work closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate costing and reporting on a variety of projects. You are a disciplined individual who loves organizing, monitoring budgets and progress, and delighting your project teams with efficient execution and quick turnaround.

Responsibilities:
Verify all the project and financial information forms submitted by the Project Manager (PM) to ensure they are fully complete and accurate

Coordinate with the PM to ensure the project work plan is in place

Perform detailed reviews of contracts and change orders including scope, schedule of values, and terms & conditions

Conduct monthly reviews with the PM regarding project performance

Ensure any project contract and financial revisions or adjustments are noted by the PM and are reflected in the PSR spreadsheets

Ensure project percent completes are updated in a timely manner by PMs

Manage project costs through variance analysis of budget vs actual

Generate a suggested billings report and draft invoices for each project as part of the invoicing process

Resolve any invoicing variances that are presented

Calculate the revenue to be recognized for each project, enter in the percent completes for revenue recognition and prepare a project profit/loss report that includes an analysis of changes from prior months

Prepare reports for the financial statement package

Analyze Work in Progress (WIP) reports

Review supplier invoices related to a project

Follow up on AR collections and respond to invoicing queries.

Run the project close process by ensuring all costs have been accounted for and final invoicing process is complete for the project

Lead and oversee project account set up

Oversee and implement effective financial controls for all current projects

Follow through and complete overlapping projects with multiple deadlines and differing timelines

Compile information for internal and external auditors as required

Skills and Requirements:
University degree in Business, Accounting, or related discipline

Completion of an accounting designation program

Minimum 3 years project accounting experience

Experience with and understanding of accounting practices in a costing or project accounting environment

Previous experience in the construction or professional services industries preferred

Excellent Microsoft Office and software skills

High level of professionalism and initiative

Fast learner with the ability to quickly grasp the different details of multiple concurrent projects

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with quick turn-around on deadlines

Superior problem-solving skills

Excellent oral and written communication
