The Dufresne Group is currently seeking a Director of Finance for our Accounting Team within our Home Office located at 167 Commerce Drive in Winnipeg, MB .

As the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, comprised of Accounts Receivable, G/L Group, Accounts Payable and Payroll. You will design, develop, implement and recommend policies and procedures for the accounting function.

As the Director of Finance, you will:

  • Coordinate and administer an adequate plan for the reporting of financial results of business operations. Such a plan provides profit planning, expense budgets, accounts receivable, cost standards and saving opportunities and capital investing, together with the necessary controls and procedures to effectuate the plan.
  • Compare performance with operating plans and standards.
  • Ensure accounts are paid on a timely manner, and that disputed items are followed up on.
  • Provide reports and analyze the results of operations to appropriate management.
  • Provide accurate, complete and timely submission of required progress reports, forecasts, quotations, budgets and rates.
  • Oversee the management of the performance and development of the finance staff and establishes responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives which contribute to improved cost, quality, productivity, and/or competitive position in the market place.
  • Be responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end closings including year-end audit and the preparation of internal operating statements of the Company.
  • Ensure that all established financial policies, rules, regulations and agreements are followed.
  • Ensure that all department process & procedures are appropriately documented and complied with.
  • Define and recommend departmental objectives, develops short term and long-range plans and programs together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates.
  • Evaluate new technical developments, recommend appropriate actions and assess proposed system enhancements.
  • Provide support to auditors for completing audits.
  • Keep abreast of current accounting trends, legislative changes, economic conditions and commodity tax issues.
  • Review year end working papers, files and draft financial statements.
  • Review monthly reporting and quarterly reporting as required, and on time.
  • Manage the payroll department, ensure appropriately staffed, and that payroll is accurately processed.
  • Ensure all payroll remittances to Canada Revenue Agency and related entities are paid on time, through process development and oversight
  • Ensure the A/P department has developed adequate processes, and that vendors are paid in accordance with terms.
  • Develop the Accounts Receivable team, and ensure that appropriate processes and follow up are in place to ensure recovery

As a successful candidate you will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with professional designation (CPA, or equivalent))
  • 8-10 years progressive accounting management experience with expertise in financial reporting
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office products, with exceptional Excel skills, and ability to learn in-house programs
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with experience of leading a unit with up to 50 staff
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Criminal Record Check required
