The Bachelor of Performing Arts program (Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts) is a collaborative interdisciplinary performing arts program offered jointly by Capilano University, Douglas College, Langara College and Vancouver Community College. The program runs for 9 months and delivers the fourth year of the degree. From 2015 – 2018, it will be offered at the New Westminster campus of Douglas College.

For Summer 2015 (May – August), the BPA is seeking qualified instructors to deliver 3 – 4 week modules within BPAC 4002: Advanced Production Planning I. Each module requires a commitment of 4 hours of class time per week, for a 3 or 4 week span during the semester.

1. Marketing and social media
2. Cue-based software systems
3. Projection design
4. Composition and sound design

Responsibilities:
You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress as part of the BPA’s interdiscplinary faculty team. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources and maintain quality, learner‐centred instruction.

To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need:
Qualifications:

  • a BFA / BA, or equivalent
  • at least five (5) years’ experience in the specific area of expertise relevant to the module, as follows:

1. Marketing and social media: experience guiding small companies in the use of all social media as marketing tools

2. Cue-based software systems: experience in QLab and the ability to instruct students in developing cue-based systems to run shows

3. Projection design: experience in variable platforms for projection delivery and project design as storytelling

4. Composition and sound design: experience in sound design composition and variable platforms for delivery of sound design

  • experience teaching at the post-secondary level will be considered an asset
