Do you have experience working as a Server in a 4 star hotel Banquet Department, Fine Dinning Restaurants or large convention centers? If you answer yes this may just be the right position for you!!

Reporting to the Banquet Manager, the Banquet Server provides personal recognition to guests by acknowledging return guests, using guest names, pacing meals according to expectations and ensuring guest satisfaction with the dining experience.

Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose):
1. Ensure proper set-up for all tables for assigned stations
2. Set tables, inspect linen, silver, china and other table items
3. Serve food, coffee, water and other beverages to customers, refill beverages as needed
4. Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods
5. Receive customer’s order for any food or beverage that varies from the set menu and provides guests with overview of menu choices
6. Maximize food and beverage revenues through the suggestive selling of specials, alcoholic beverages, desserts and speciality coffees
7. Operate the Micros computer system to communicate orders, maintain guest checks, process corrections and settlements, and balance at the end of shift
8. Refer complaints on food or service to the Banquet Manager
9. Cooperate closely with the other servers to ensure prompt service is provided at all times
10. Clean up of tables and serving areas throughout banquet service
11. Perform all side duties in an efficient manner while adhering to hotel policies and procedures
12. Maintains a favourable working relations with co-workers to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious work environment
13. Project a favorable image of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts to the public at all times

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Energetic and flexible, and able to work well under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous customer service experience an asset
  • Self-motivated, creative, capable of working in a team environment

Working Conditions:

  • Evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, standing, sitting, or walking for an extended period of time

Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements):

  • Requires 1-2 years previous Banquet’s experience in a Four Star or higher hotel, large Convention Center or Fine Dining Restaurant
  • Pro Serve and Food Safe Certificates
  • Minimum 3 years’ customer service and banquets experience * Micros experience an asset
