Local Unit & Position Description
DNV GL is seeking a temporary Accountant that will be part of the GSS Finance North America team and will support the Canada Financial Controller in the preparation of financial and analytical reports for any of the DNV GL NA entities.

**Please note: this temporary position is not for direct employment with DNV GL. While the selected applicant may be required to work full-time, the nature of the job is temporary and the duration of this assignment will be between 10 months and one year, depending on business needs. While there is a potential to eventually convert to permanent employment directly with DNV GL, we are not able to guarantee that outcome.**

Tasks May Include

  • Maintain general ledgers of the company, tasks include but not limited to: reconcile and analyse accounts, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, report on fixed assets, and depreciation, setup and monitor accruals to meet anticipated liabilities, prepare general tax reports, etc.;
  • Support with preparation of month end financial reports; departmental financials;
  • Support for treasury matters;
  • Process Insurances and Prepaid Expenses;
  • Auditing of employee expense reports;
  • Run intercompany reconciliations and the upload onto Group finance system;
  • Support with Intercompany invoicing;
  • Participate in yearend audit;
  • Prepare payroll journal entries;
  • Maintain Deferred Warranty schedule;
  • Monthly financial reporting in SAP BOFC;
  • Quarterly US sales tax filing;
  • Provide information to tax group for Corporate income tax filing;
  • Act as a technical resource on accounting issues such as revenue recognition and expense accounting; and
  • Participation in a variety of ad hoc finance department projects for North America Shared Services Finance group, mostly New Generation Finance (NGF) project for Oracle Implementation.

Position Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft products required;
  • Crystal reports and/or Access a plus;
  • Advanced computer skills in a major integrated accounting software suite such as SAP or SUN;
  • Experience dealing with accounting for US entities will be an asset;
  • Experience working with Oracle will be an asset.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize;
  • Proven ability to learn and understand new software/accounting systems.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration desired;
  • Minimum five years’ experience in accounting, knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP);
  • Experience with a Professional Services Company preferred.
