VICTIM SERVICES COORDINATOR
(Full-time, temporary 6-month contract with a possibility for extension)

Are you passionate about providing immediate support and follow up assistance to victims and
witnesses of crime and trauma? The District of Mission is looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable
and organized individual to organize, implement and administer the Victim Services Program.
Reporting to the Manager of RCMP Administration, you will be responsible for recruiting, training,
supervising and coordinating victim services staff and volunteers; ensuring that service delivery for the
program conforms to program guidelines and objections; liaising with police members and a variety of
government and community agencies to coordinate work efforts, promoting program awareness and
sharing information; and providing immediate follow up and court support services to victims of crime,
trauma, and family problems, as well as youth and families in crisis. You will also prepare and maintain
required records, statistics, reports and correspondence related to the program.
You will be knowledgeable about program objectives, policies, procedures and services provided to
victims and witnesses of crime and trauma and have considerable knowledge of crisis intervention
practices and techniques. You will have excellent organizational, interpersonal and delegation skills
along with strong communication skills. Experience with program planning, development and
management is an asset along with experience in supervising staff and volunteers.
You will possess a bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field supplemented by courses in
youth crisis intervention and victim support, preferably police-based, and have at least 3 years of
related experience including experience with Victim Services Information System (VSIS). Applicants
must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, RCMP enhanced reliability
clearance.
This contract position is excluded from the bargaining units and the hourly rate of pay is $34.79 plus 4%
in lieu of benefits. This position is 70 hours bi-weekly on a 9-day fortnight schedule (extended hours for
9 days and 1 day off every two weeks). Some evening and weekend work may be required as well as
adjusting shifts to ensure 24-hour coverage for crisis calls as needed.
