Disruptive Publishers is looking for a Junior 3D Animator to join our team to help us create amazing art. This position is ideal for a dedicated, self-driven, and energetic person who is passionate about video games and thrives working in a creative and fun environment.

We are a small yet passionate Vancouver-based studio of world-class artists, animators, and video game industry vets dedicated to creating the largest, most diverse, console personalization portfolio for the Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation platforms. We create our own original content, but also work with some of the biggest properties in sports, entertainment, gaming and lifestyle to bring the brands you know and love to life.

Junior 3D Animator

Applicants must be team players willing to put in time to get the job done right. The ideal candidate loves both playing and making games and has fluency with American pop culture.

Job Description

• Creating high quality 3D animations
• Be willing to learn new tools and techniques
• Take art direction and closely follow instructions from the lead animator
• Be meticulous and organized in the approach to tasks, adhering to pipeline workflow
• Take ownership for tasks assigned, be accountable for work, and follow through
• Use both Maya and proprietary art tools to implement animated characters and objects in the Xbox avatar system and PlayStation
• Knowledgeable in contemporary media (web, games, comics, film, animation, etc.)

Required Skills

• Strong body mechanics and strong character animation
• Ability to rig and animate 3D characters, environments and vehicles
• Self-motivated, good communication skills, and a team-player attitude
• Passionate about game and animation production
• Must exhibit and demonstrate strong traditional animation principles (timing, spacing, squash and stretch, etc…)
• Good sense of scale and spatial awareness
• Understanding of creative and technical challenges particular to video game animation
• Animation experience with FK and IK skeletal systems
• Proficiency with 3D Animation software
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to adapt to different workflows and methods
• Ability to take a project from concept to final product
• Detail oriented
• Solid problem solving abilities

Bonus Points

• Scripting/Coding ability MEL, PYTHON, JAVA ETC
• Basic modeling ability
• Experience in Unity
• Conceptual skills including characters, weapon, prop and environment design
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop
• Expressions and lip sync
