Desjardins Securities (DS), a subsidiary of Desjardins Group, is a full-service brokerage firm with investment advisors geographically dispersed in some 40 branches, sub-branches and service centers throughout Québec and Ontario. We are presently seeking a financial planner for the Northeastern Quebec region. The position will be based in Quebec.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Full-service Brokerage, the incumbent will play a key role in financial, estate and tax planning in the Northeastern Quebec region by providing his/her expertise to affluent and high-net-worth clients in partnership with investment advisors, in view of offering value-added service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as an expert advisor by providing personalized strategies and solutions related to financial, estate and tax planning to affluent and high-net-worth clients with specific and often very complex needs.
  • Work with investment advisors to determine their clients’ short- and long-term financial goals in view of producing a detailed financial plan that will meet their needs.
  • Manage and monitor the progress of the proposed financial planning strategies to ensure that results are attained and action plans are appropriate.
  • Prepare and give presentations and/or talks to investment advisors and their clients on topics of particular interest in relation to financial planning such as retirement, estates, specific tax questions, charitable donations, etc.
  • Establish lasting relations with investment advisors and help build trust with their clients.
  • Maintain a high level of competence and involvement in order to support investment advisors and significantly contribute to the achievement of their objectives.
  • Keep up to date on the most recent trends and changes in the securities industry, associated regulations and internal policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, including a solid background in defining complex personalized financial solutions, preferably acquired in the securities industry.
  • IQPF designation or an equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of financial and estate planning software and tools.
  • Fluent in French and English (spoken and written).
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
