Reporting to the Regional Director, the Regional Administrator is responsible for the management of a variety of human resources, administrative and financial functions in support of the Avalon Works Regional Office. The incumbent ensures the administrative requirements of the region such as purchasing, etc., are completed in an efficient and timely manner; prepares and monitors the regional budget and financial documents; supports the delivery of employee relations functions including interpretation of collective agreements, processing of grievances and chairing grievance committee meetings; manages disability management cases, safety initiatives, and learning opportunities in consultation with the Strategic Human Resource Management Division; supervises administrative staff; and oversees preparation of payroll documentation for processing with Compensation and Benefits ; supports the recruitment function by chairing Selection Boards including the preparation of job advertisements; developing and administering selection processes; performing reference checks; preparing recommendations of qualified candidates for appointment; and providing post-board feedback to applicants, as required; and performs other related duties as required.. The Regional Administrators maintains a close working relationship with the Strategic Human Resource Management Division.
Candidates should have considerable knowledge and experience in managing human resources, employee relations and financial services including the supervision of staff performing such functions. Candidates must demonstrate sound analytical, organizational and oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Considerable initiative and judgement in the performance of assigned functions is required. Current certification as a Selection Board Chair would be considered an asset. These qualifications would normally be acquired through proven related work experience and graduation from an approved post-secondary institution with a Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration or related degree. Equivalencies may be considered.
