The Hotel:

Courtyard Marriott Edmonton, Downtown is a full service business hotel with 177 suites including 9 king suites, located in the center of Downtown Edmonton, next door from Shaw Conference center and walking distance to the Rogers Arena. We have 4 conference rooms with catering for up to 200 people. As well as an all-day restaurant- Riverside Bistro and patio overlooking the mesmerizing river valley. Our patio has been rated one of the best patios in the city. The hotel also features fully functional room service department.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Food & Beverage Associate to join our team. Suitable candidate will be responsible for performing day to day operations of restaurant, lounge, bar room service and banqueting operations. This is an entry level position that requires an individual to perform service of food and beverage items to customers in a friendly, enthusiastic, professional, and timely manner.

Direct Manager: Restaurant Manager

Job Responsibilities:

60% – Take orders for and serve all food and beverage requests, using suggestive selling techniques. Clear tables during service. Control guest checks and secure proper payment.

20% – Ensure station and table set-ups are complete and perform various side duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage Supervisor.

20% – Maintain proper condition and cleanliness of dining areas and servicing equipment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

  • Understand and respond to customers’ needs and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction
  • Greet guests in a friendly manner upon arrival, maintain a proactive guest service approach at all times
  • Provide fast, friendly, professional and responsive customer service to hotel guest and staff
  • Work well with the team, understanding that it takes a team to accomplish our goals, vision and objectives
  • Under all circumstances, reaches towards calmness, tact and creativity to ensure the continued confidence of the public and co-workers
  • Ensure the operational effectiveness by delivering superior service and quality products in a consistent manner to both customers and Delta by Marriott team
  • Lead by example, follows direction and ensures all aspects of the operation are met and delivered
  • Seek ways to save/generate revenues for the hotel, especially pertaining to the restaurant
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • Complete all other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Courtyard Marriot

Requirements:

We are looking for an energetic person who is looking who is hard working, career orientated and who has a passion for the Food and Beverage Service. The ideal person will have previous experience in a full service bar/restaurant, as well as experience using Micros and AGLC regulations. Previous Marriott Hotel Experience Preferred.

  • At least six months server experience in a full service bar and/or restaurant preferred but not required
  • Highly energetic and motivated individual
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer/client focus
  • Self-Starter with ability to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Results driven focus and ability to work through to completion in a timely manner

  • Must maintain a neat and professional appearance, upholding company appearance standards at all times

Physical Requirements:
