The Human Resources Coordinator is a hands-on representative of the Human Resources department facilitating all basic Human Resources functions while supporting the Director of Operations and the Executive Director in projects and all HR programs. This individual will have a strong drive for learning and innovation, developing and maintaining consistency in our program and supporting our community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review human resources policies and agency job descriptions.
  • Coordinate, implementation of interviews, selection, promotion, transfers and agency orientation.
  • Maintains employee records/ files and ensures all paperwork is properly completed
  • Supports the recruitment and hiring process by assisting with background checks, follow up calls and research in hiring fairs
  • Acts as a benefits administrator
  • Assists in the coordination of the Health & Safety program
  • Build and sustain beneficial relationships with employment agencies and educational institutions.
  • Provide resolutions to employee relation issues (e.g. employee complaints and harassment allegations)
  • Coordinate and update intranet site.
  • Act as representative for unemployment claims/Labour Relations Inquiries/WCB inquiries.
  • Plan and organize and attend recruitment fairs as requested.
  • Plan and organize staff events and recreational activities.
  • Assists in ad-hoc Human Resources projects

Skills & Requirements

  • Human Resources Certificate or a post-secondary diploma or degree required
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in an office setting, preferably Human Resources environment
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and in an Apple environment
  • Knowledge of relevant Human Resources practices and applicable employment legislation
  • Ongoing passion for personal learning and development of others
  • Maintains confidentiality of records and information
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
