Work Environement: CorActive develops and manufactures advanced Specialty Optical Fiber (SOF) and fiber laser modules products for OEM customers serving the industrial laser, telecommunications, sensor, defense, and aerospace industries. Primary Tasks: While collaborating with the engineering team, the R&D technologist will perform the following tasks:

Development of High Power fiber lasers:

  • Actively involved in development of new fiber laser products,
  • Assemble and test fiber laser prototypes
  • Develop the sub-assemblies or prototypes necessary for the production of the new products
  • Validate the assembly process of the new products with the production team
  • Test and validate the optical components required for the development of the new products.
  • Perform the recordings according to the manipulations’ needs. Compile the obtained results, present the summaries and the reports of the tests.
  • Execute all the stages of the assigned development projects or production tasks.

Customer support, maintenance and other related tasks:

  • Insure the cleanliness of the laboratory, the classification of components and equipments
  • Responsible for calibration of the equipment and the set-ups.
  • Involved in the acquisition of equipment.
  • Execute the FMA (Failure Mode Analysis) of faulty lasers.
  • Compile and submit the FMA reports to the quality and the after-sale customer departments
  • Perform all the other assigned related tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • CEGEP (Quebec College Diploma) in Technology Physics or equivalent completed
  • Basic knowledge of electronics
  • Knowledge in fiber optics, optical fiber and fiber laser components (a plus)
  • Experience in the manufacturing of technologically advanced products
  • Basic computing skills (Office, Labview)
  • Intermediate level of English
