Compass Centre for Sexual Wellness is a non-profit, charitable organisation based in Edmonton, which provides sexual health education and counselling services for the capital region. We are a community-based organization providing access to non-judgemental sexual and reproductive health services and supports across the lifespan. We are seeking Fundraising & Community Development Specialist.

As Compass Centre for Sexual Wellness continues to grow, we have an exciting 30 hr/wk opportunity for a highly skilled and truly creative marketing, communications, and community relations professional. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to lead all aspects of Compass Centre’s communication and outreach strategy. The successful candidate will support our marketing and donor relationships, communication needs and building awareness for the Compass Centre across the greater Capital Region.

We are looking for someone who has experience in fund development, marketing and volunteer management. You love to tell stories about all the incredible work done at Compass Centre and the fantastic people who use our services.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

Communication

• Develop brainstorm and contribute to overall communications and marketing strategy and objectives
• Gathering and writing meaningful and impactful donor, volunteer and client stories, reports and testimonials
• Support internal teams with their communications needs for their projects and campaigns
• Writes content and for social media accounts, letters, articles, newsletters, company website, and press releases ensuring content is up-to-date, accurate and follows brand standards and best practices

Maintaining and updating agency library of photos, stories and testimonials

Events

• Leads all planning and execution of Compass Centre events and functions throughout the year, including but not limited to our annual event
• Liaison with internal and external parties to ensure proper implementation of events
• Will play a key role in developing innovative stewardship events and experiences

Fund Development

• Experience in fundraising, donor relations, stewardship, and or marketing, preferably but not necessarily in a not for profit setting.
• Producing uniquely tailored communications pieces supporting donor recognition and annual appeal activities
• Confidently representing the agency including making presentations and speeches with poise and confidence
• Develops and monitor sponsorship plans and agreements
• Craft persuasive grant applications

Volunteer Management

• Effectively and efficiently develop, maintain and grow the volunteer programs and assist with the giving programs and initiatives
• Plan and execute all public relations and marketing of related to volunteer opportunities, including the annual general meeting and volunteer recognition event.
• Support and coordinate volunteer data management and report generation initiative

Desired Qualifications:

• A self-starter with the ability to lead, motivate, and support staff and volunteers
• Demonstrated ability to be creative and innovative
• Current information management training and experience, including excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications and social media
• Time management skills with the ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously
• Willingness to travel as needed
• Graphic design experience an asset
