Location: MicroSkills, 1 Vulcan Street, Etobicoke, ON

The Community Outreach Specialist will play a key role in enhancing MicroSkills’ outreach, marketing and promotional efforts. They are responsible for developing and implementing an integrated Outreach and Marketing strategy designed to meet program targets and maintain awareness of MicroSkills’ programs and services. The incumbent will actively seek out opportunities to raise the awareness of our programs by building and fostering strong relationships with community organizations, clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications :

  • College Diploma in a related field required.
  • Two (2) years of related experience, preferably in a registered charitable/not-for-profit organization.
  • Experience with Employment Ontario is an asset.
  • Experience in developing targeted marketing and promotional plan for a non-profit organization.
  • Possess a strong community network.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential to maintain and expand relationship with internal and external partners and team members.
  • Demonstrate time management and organizational skills to meet timelines and flexibility to adapt well to changing priorities.
  • Highly motivated and accountable individual with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills including: communication skills in social media, marketing and other media.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing & tracking results.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for travel to various locations in the Etobicoke area.
  • Flexible to assigned working hours/locations.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and execute outreach and promotional strategies with measureable outcomes to support short and long term program goals.
  • Work in conjunction with Program Coordinators/Managers and Directors to manage the ongoing development of MicroSkills’ outreach plans.
  • Ensure marketing and promotional activities are relevant and delivered in a manner that is consistent with MicroSkills’ mission and strategic objectives.
  • Assist and develop marketing outreach strategies leveraging technology to create awareness and connect with new markets.
  • Deliver presentations and facilitate workshops on topics related to employment and training.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to Employment Ontario Programs and Services while tracking client progress.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community service providers, umbrella organizations, professional associations, industry/business leaders with the purpose of creating awareness in the community of the organization’s services.
  • Works with the program staff to identify potential recruitment sources for clients/partners and facilitates introductions to the program areas for partnerships.
  • Evaluate and analyze the performance, effectiveness and efficiency of online and community outreach initiatives, while identifying trends and suggesting recommendations for continuous improvements.
  • Attends internal and external meetings to represent the agency and promote the programs/services. Acts as a point of contact and maintains relationships with various partner organizations (e.g. TRIEC), employers, and community service coordination groups (e.g. CASIP) as well as other stakeholders.
  • Supports counsellors and Job Developers in achieving client outreach and intake targets with a continuous improvement plan
  • Liaise with internal IT department in order to provide regular updates to MicroSkills’ social media outlets (i.e. Website, Twitter, Facebook etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
