QUALIFICATIONS:

• An understanding of issues surrounding relationship violence and a commitment to working with women and children primarily in a crisis shelter setting.
• Post-secondary education in social sciences and experience in crisis intervention and feminist counseling. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• A certificate of conduct as well as a willingness to obtain training in CPR/First Aid, ASIST and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide crisis intervention and support to women and children who have been emotionally, physically, financially and/or sexually abused. Duties include answering crisis calls, providing supportive counselling to current and ex-residents, conducting assessments for admission, compiling and maintaining files, records and logs, use of a computerized database and other related duties. Acts as an advocate for women, interacting with collateral agencies to help arrange services & make necessary referrals. Must be able to multi-task, have good communication skills and work well in crisis situations. Must be able to work independently, as well as part of a dynamic team.

This is a call-in position. Applicants must be prepared to work 3-hour to 12-hour shifts on an as-needed basis, in a 24 hour facility.

RATE OF PAY:
$21.58 to $23.89/hour as per Collective Agreement.
