TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Temporary/Contractual position . You must be available from June 1st on an “as required” by CCS basis for training programs and familiarize camp program. From June 29th to August 12th on the campsite fulfilling responsibilities.

PRIME OBJECTIVE

Responsible for planning, preparing, leading and coordinating all Nature projects for the various age levels of campers. Responsible for the care and supervision of a group of 12- 16 boys or girls during Nature Activity. Responsible for the participation and help in preparation of all camp activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

 17 years of age before July 1st of this year

 Have First aid / CPR training (asset)

 Desire and ability to work with children outdoors

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Before camp starts, plan projects and assist the Camp Program Director in ordering supplies.
  • Set up appropriate Nature area during staff training.
  • Teach staff their responsibilities in Nature activities during training.
  • Teach all Nature sessions for campers, adequately preparing in advance starting on time, and ensuring the proper use of equipment.
  • As the summer progresses, recommend additional purchase of materials and supplies to the Program Director, keeping the budget in mind.
  • Conduct initial and end-of-summer inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Continually check equipment and be responsible for necessary repairs.
  • Clean and store all equipment after its final use of the day.
  • Be in constant search for new, creative projects.
  • Record and file a compilation of projects for future use.
  • Attend pre-camp training workshops and regular staff meetings as required.
  • Set a good example for campers and others including following camp rules and guidelines, cleanliness, punctuality, sharing, cleanup, sportsmanship, and table manners.
  • Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations
  • Promote high camper morale.
  • Assist in camp related activities as required.
  • Maintain good communication with Leadership Team (ex: report any concerns so that they may contact parent/guardian if necessary)
  • Work with other groups, participating in activities and provide necessary instructions to campers
  • Observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Assist campers in the prevention of and in emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury)
  • Help with the loading and unloading of buses and camp clean up
  • Possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.

 Ability to relate to peers and accept guidance and supervision

 Ability to teach and assist in various camp activities
