Reporting to the
Manager, Facilities, this position is responsible for the day-to-day
supervision of staff and delegation of work.
This position also performs and forecasts maintenance and repairs to all
Town owned or leased facilities.

Qualifications Required:

  • 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate required
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence (LEED)
  • Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Aerial Platform Training
  • Fall Arrest Training
  • Fire Extinguisher
  • WHMIS
  • Journeyman certification considered an asset
  • Building Maintenance Level I and II (AARFP) considered an

asset

Skills Required:

  • Excellent mechanical / technical aptitude
  • Municipal Experience preferred
  • Strong ability to lead a team

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides

day-to-day supervision, training and coaching to staff and assists the manager
with the employee performance management process.

  • Prepares

and organizes staff schedules, ensuring coverage throughout business hours and
after hours on-call.

  • Provides

assistance with the preparation of the annual operational budget and provides
input into any capital expenditures and facilities growth/life cycling reserve
contributions, while ensuring that operations performed are within the approved
budgetary parameters.

  • Acts

as and on behalf of the manager when required to provide continuity of service.

  • Maintains Town facilities to the standards that will

provide safe, long-term viability for internal and external users.

  • Performs

daily mechanical inspections on all facilities and ensures timely repairs and
regular maintenance is performed.

  • Responds

to and/or investigates requests for service in all Town owned/operated
facilities.

  • Utilizes

FAME system (Facility Asset Management) to track and schedule preventative
maintenance and asset replacement.

  • Ensures

all administrative duties of the position are performed (checklists, inventory,
purchase orders and reports).

  • Ensures own work and work of staff is performed in

accordance with workplace health and safety standards, SOP’s (Standard
Operating Procedures) and all applicable legislation.

  • Review quotes received from contractors and oversee

the required minor maintenance and repairs associated with contracted work.

  • Assists with the preparation and tendering of RFP’s

(Request for Proposal).

  • Maintains equipment and hand tools utilized in the

performance of the sections tasks.

  • Is available on call and provides emergency

assistance when required.
