The Restaurant Manager will ensure that Prestons Restaurant offers diners a contemporary, vibrant and welcoming setting with outstanding food, fun and friends. This position will be responsible for leading, empowering and motivating the Prestons Ambassadors in a positive work environment. Responsibilities include maintaining high internal / external customer service standards while implementing effective controls.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day to day operations of the Restaurant while maintaining a consistently high level of customer service delivery through trained and qualified staff.
  • Ensures that all working areas, furnishings and equipment are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and repair.
  • Develops departmental procedures by which the highest possible degree of customer satisfaction is achieved
  • Handles payroll for the Prestons team
  • Provides a common vision, defining priorities, clarifying roles & responsibilities of team members
  • Involvement in preparation of the restaurant’s Operating & Capital Budgets
  • Creates an environment that produces a highly engaged team of food sales & service professionals
  • Provides ongoing coaching & development using the “Living The Values” Talent Management System
  • Prepares weekly/ monthly labour forecasts and food & beverage revenue forecasts
  • Participates in the revision of menus and upgrading of service
  • Initiates and implements food & beverage promotions
  • Monitors an effective purchasing program allowing for operating supplies and expenses within budget
  • Ensures compliance to relevant legislative requirements related to Food & Beverage sales
  • Handling of guest complaints, follows through on action required
  • Works actively with Coast Marketing on promoting the restaurant through various Social Media
  • Develops and maintains loyalty/rewards program for Prestons
  • Works with the People & Culture Manager to prepare seasonal recruitment plans resulting in appropriate staffing levels throughout the year
  • Attracts & develops talent by creating an environment in which contributions are recognized & rewarded

Qualifications & Skill Requirement s:

  • Minimum 3 years food service management experience
  • Degree/Diploma in Hospitality preferred or Hospitality industry courses in Hotel Management
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Exceptional communication& leadership skills
  • Personal alignment with Coast’s 5 core values and corporate culture
  • Effective problem solving and decision making ability
  • Demonstrated superior customer service philosophy
  • Required certifications: Food Safe, Hep A & Serving it Right
  • Required to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends & holidays
