REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade XII high school/or equivalent
  • Successful completion of Level I & II Medical Terminology course or program
  • Graduate of a secretarial or medical office skills program (or equivalent education & experience)
  • Heart Saver within last 12 months
  • Recent experience in a patient reception/care area, specifically in admission of patients within ADT system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of provincial health coverage and related 3rd party insurance (Ie. WCB, Military, RCMP, etc)
  • Must be competent with Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Recent evidence and proficiency working with IT as it applies to the health care environment o Good working knowledge Electronic Health Records (EHR) applications applicable to a hospital setting including ADT, Clinical Systems, and Electronic Document Management specific to scanning, retrieval, and indexing of Health Information
  • Familiarity with CUPE contract and applicable scheduling procedures relating to filling shifts after hours
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Health Records principles and processes including Alphanumeric recognition aptitude and chart sequencing
  • Neat, accurate keyboarding required; minimum 50 WPM
  • Evidence of attending continuing education and/or in-services
  • Demonstrated competence in prioritizing and organizing in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrate and maintain effective and respectful interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to be tactful, diplomatic, pleasant, courteous and well groomed
  • Above average knowledge of confidentiality and guidelines for release of Patient Information following the Personal Health Information Act
  • Advanced level of written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to display independent judgement
  • Ability to work with all staff
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
