Reporting to the Unit Manager, Pediatric Ambulatory Care, this position greets patients, answers the telephone, coordinates the flow of patients and provides clerical support in a high volume, busy ambulatory setting. This role includes scheduling appointments using eClinician, verifying patient information, admits and discharges patients, logs visits and performs other clerical duties as required. This position supports a multitude of clinic’s that work from the Ambulatory program.
This position is also responsible for booking appointments and meetings for clinicians/teams, and providing equipment and ordering supplies in the clinical area.
Minimum of Grade 12 with successful completion of post secondary secretarial/unit clerk training with medical terminology required. Two to three years of recent pediatric acute and/or ambulatory care experience required.
Proficiency with medical terminology and strong computer and typing skills required. Experience with Microsoft Office, Tandem, eClinician scheduler, VAX, excel database, and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) is required. BCLS (CPR) is required. Must be able to push/pull/lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
Strong communication skills with a courteous and pleasant front desk reception/telephone manner are desired when working with the public. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload, ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and ability to adapt quickly are desirable qualities. Attendance and performance must be acceptable to the employer. Must be able to work effectively in a complex, busy, noisy clinic environment and complete tasks while dealing with multiple interruptions.
