BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Customer Sales Specialist Trainee is responsible for learning how to generate sales growth in a defined group of accounts by utilizing company programs to establish the Company as a primary vendor in targeted customers and markets. The Trainee will need to learn all facets of the job with the primary responsibility of retention for current customers and addition of new accounts. This position assists in conversion and modernization process for accounts within district as directed by district sales manager. The Trainee will gain a solid understanding of the PROMISE value proposition and demonstrate an ability to execute with assigned account base and in support of other reps within geographic district. Provide coverage for open territories as well as vacation coverage as needed.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for understanding of the Company system and/or product to new and existing customers
  • Must develop expansion strategies to further retain existing accounts
  • Utilizes Account Management System to develop a routing plan and appropriate call frequency as well as document sales activity
  • Develops, maintains and strengthens customer relationships
  • Assists (DSM, SAR, or other sales professional) with prospect/customer surveys and conversions and set up of new customer locations
  • Secures and submits customer orders for processing utilizing wireless ordering technology
  • Checks accuracy of incoming orders, and unpacks and puts away stock where appropriate; manages returns as necessary
  • Assist in management of account receivables
  • Conduct all activity in accordance with company policies and corporate business conduct guidelines
  • Submits in timely manner, in the format requested, all written reports as required by management
  • When needed provides account coverage for open territories
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by DSM
  • Willing to relocate within the sales district
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of high school education (diploma/GED) required
  • Four year college degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 0-3 years outside direct sales/service experience desired

SKILLS

  • Must exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email) and ability to acclimate to PC based order entry system and wireless, hand held scanners
  • Must exhibit basic math skills and ability to organize and manage time appropriately
  • Ability to work from home office and own a personal computer with internet access that can be used for work
  • Technical product knowledge or equivalent experience in the industrial market preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Capable of driving up to several hours per day to customer location(s) within an assigned territory or region is required.
  • Job entails frequent lifting, bending and stretching.
  • Ability to move product weighing up to 60 pounds.
