The Opportunity: The City of St. Albert is looking for a dynamic individual with strong interpersonal and customer service skills to join our Financial Services team for a one year term assignment.

As a Utility Representative, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely billing and collection for utility services, administering the various utility services, programs and payment options as well as responding to all customer enquiries. The work also involves coordinating with Public Works and Engineering Services personnel for the accurate delivery of meter installations, replacements, readings and activation and deactivation of services.
Specific responsibilities will include:

– Coordination of utility billings and collections
– Providing front line customer service involving the explanation of complex billing adjustments, rate changes, various payment options as well as the various utility programs;
– Educating customers on the various garbage collections subscription options and appropriate subscription level
– Responsible for the administration, promotion, education and maintenance of the monthly Pre-authorized withdrawals for utilities

Qualifications: - High School Diploma. Post secondary education or training in basic accounting or business administration is an asset.
– A minimum of three years of experience in front line customer service. Prior experience working in utilities is a definite asset.
– Knowledge of basic accounting.
– General office experience in a computerized environment.
– Proficient user of Microsoft Office including Excel. Prior experience with Tempest Software is an asset.
– Team player, good judgment, strong problem-solving, multi-tasking and communication skills.
– The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check.

Hours of Work: Compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

Compensation: $25.59 per hour. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive benefit package.

This is a one year term assignment from September 2015 to September 2016.
