Cultivate your Career:
The City of St. Albert’s Capital Projects Office (CPO) is responsible for the successful completion of all major and high profile capital projects for the City. The CPO is responsible to provide overall project management services including functional planning, cost estimating, contractor and consultant procurement, contract execution, managing and reporting budgets and schedules, and project closeout. The CPO also advises Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Council of project status and corresponding issues that may negatively or positively affect Council and administration. These projects include all new construction and major rehabilitation to the City’s roadways, utilities, buildings and recreational parks and facilities.

The Opportunity:
As the Project Coordinator, you will report to the Manager of the Capital Projects Office, and will be directly responsible for the successful completion of smaller capital projects from initiation to completion. Working as part of a team, you will provide support to the Project Managers on larger-scale capital projects.

The key responsibilities of this position can be defined as: initiates, plans, budgets, manage and coordinate smaller capital projects from conception to completion with on time and on budget delivery. You will also take on the role of CCC/FAC inspector and will be responsible for the successful close out of all projects. You will be responsible for the construction education portion of the CPO works including but not limited to internal education, preparation of educational packages for the public including such things as developing and educating motorists on zipper merging etc.

The individual we seek is team-oriented and personable, with strong communication skills. We are looking for someone who has strong time management, has good judgement and thrives in a busy and dynamic work environment. Maintaining excellent customer relations and a high level of service satisfaction is necessary for success in this role. Placing a high degree of focus on safety during all aspects of the construction process is required.


  • Applicants will hold a diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field and currently hold or be able to obtain a C.E.T or C.Tech designation, or

hold a Diploma in Project Management, and currently hold or be able to obtain a PMP or CAPM designation with PMI.

  • 2 years of related construction experience.

  • Proficient user of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and have a vehicle.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication, time management and organization skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to use sound judgment, initiative, and creativity to lead projects to successful completion.

Hours of Work:
We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday – Friday, with a regular day off every two weeks). During construction season, a flexible schedule and additional hours will be necessary.

$70,595 – $85,889 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive flexible benefit package.
