The Opportunity:
The City of St. Albert’s Engineering department is currently recruiting for a Manager of Development Engineering. The Engineering Department is an integral component of the Planning and Engineering Division that provides the leadership and direction for all engineering related responsibilities for the corporation.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the management of the Development Engineering Branch. Key responsibilities will be to coordinate and maintain the City’s Engineering Standards as it pertains to the various types of development throughout the City. You will ensure that the Engineering Standards are implemented throughout the City and the necessary consultation is facilitated with the relevant stakeholders, both internal and external.

You will be directly responsible to manage the review process of development applications to ensure that all engineering issues are addressed. This will include the Development Agreement, Engineering Drawing Reviews and site inspections. As the Manager of Development Engineering you will streamline and improve processes based on sound engineering principles, maintenance, and safety and economic considerations.

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or a Certified Engineering Technologist
  • Professional Engineer or CET with a professional licensee with APEGA
  • Minimum 10 years responsible, progressive experience in a municipal environment
  • Prior experience with project management, contract administration, negotiations and personnel management
  • Knowledge of civil design & building construction.
  • Familiarity with OH&S legislation
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, Hansen and other internet applications
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication, time management and organization skills
  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check.

Hours of Work:
We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

$96,690 to $117,639 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.
