Nature of Position
The Summer Playground Supervisor’s primary contribution will be that of planning the youth summer program with the Program Coordinator. Tasks include organizing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the summer programs for youth ages 6 – 12 at a variety of locations throughout Quesnel. The Playground Supervisor will also be responsible for the supervision of a small team of playground leaders. This position is open to both male and female applicants.
Testing and interviews will be required.
The Playground Supervisor participates as a team member under the direction of the Program Coordinator in the planning, organization, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of a wide variety of recreational / educational activities including special community events.
The Playground Supervisor is responsible to ensure that safety standards are met and policies adhered to. Other responsibilities include assisting in maintaining City equipment and supplies.
The successful Playground Supervisor will possess the following qualifications:
Be a current student with the intent of returning to full-time student status in September
Has superior communication skills
Proven ability to supervise and provide leadership to others
Experience in working with youth in a wide range of activities including themes, sports, games, crafts, etc.
Standard First Aid certification
Ability to commit to the philosophy, goals and objectives of the City of Quesnel
In addition to possessing these qualifications, the Playground Supervisor must be physically able to perform all required duties, and must consent to and successfully clear a security check under the Criminal Records Review Act.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday from June 04, 2018 until August 31, 2018, inclusive.
This position is subject to partial funding provided by an HRDC summer student grant. This position will only be filled if the City receives confirmation that its grant application has been approved.
