The City of Quesnel is seeking applications for a Junior Engineering Technologist to work in our Public Works Department. This student position will assist Engineering staff with maintenance and capital work projects for the City. These will include design and drafting of capital projects and layout of capital construction and maintenance projects.

The position will be full-time from May 7 to August 24, 2018 (start date subject to change).

Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 supplemented by Engineering courses at post-secondary level and / or a minimum of 1 year experience in civil construction engineering
Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary Engineering program in the fall
Minimum 1 year experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or other drafting software
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
Must be interested in engineering relating to Municipal construction and design

Knowledge:
Knowledge of drafting techniques and programs
Knowledge of surveying procedures
Knowledge of total stations/data collections, GPS equipment, and engineering levels

Skills and Abilities:
Good computer skills, including spreadsheet applications
Excellent communication skills
Good mathematical ability
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to perform physical and field work in a variety of (often adverse) weather conditions

Hours of Work
Hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm (40 hours per week). The incumbents will be required to work outside the normal working hours from time to time depending on project work.
