Reporting to the Manager, Traffic, Streetlighting and Municipal Parking, or designate, be responsible for supervising, organizing, directing and leading a team of parking staff responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of parking control equipment and collecting revenues from the Municipal Parking System.
Duties include providing supervision, leadership, guidance and support to team members by providing direction in establishing work plans and priorities, preparing staffing schedules, approving timesheets, absence reports and requests for time off; monitoring the quality and productivity of all operations including security services, ensuring work is undertaken in a safe and efficient manner; installing, operating and maintaining parking control equipment and material inventories; supervising and monitoring contracted services; responding to public and customer inquiries and complaints; preparing and conducting inspections of parking equipment to ensure that services levels are maintained; ensuring cash generated by the Municipal Parking System is collected, sorted, counted, packaged and deposited in accordance with corporate policies and procedures; monitoring collection routes to ensure schedules are adequate; budget preparation in regards to maintenance and staffing requirements; and performing other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Demonstrated knowledge and skills normally associated with completion of a two year college diploma in a related discipline such as electrical/mechanical or trade certificate with specialized courses in electrical, electronics, mechanical, millwright fields, parking control and technology plus four (4) years of experience in the mechanical and electrical field relevant to parking operations and maintenance, two (2) of which are in a supervisory capacity, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of money handling, accounting and auditing of revenues, counting and sorting of coin/bill revenue and various types of cash float systems
Proven supervisory skills and abilities in the Corporation’s five (5) leadership competencies strategic thinking, effective communication, inspiring and motiviating others, extending trust and engaging others, and being decisive and accountable.
Willingness to accept responsibility and possess an excellent working knowledge of and ability to apply all relevant safety policies, standards and legislation (Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act). Able to understand, express and apply concepts of a general nature as well as somewhat technical concepts, methods and procedures.
Demonstrated organization skills related to the supervision of staff, the maintenance of inventory records and development of staff workplans and priorities.
Established skills and experience using PC equipment and related software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, parking operations software).
Good customer service experience and able to communicate effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing with staff, elected officials, externals agencies and the general public.
Possess personal qualities of maturity, tact, discretion and have a willing and co-operative attitude.
In good physical condition and clean and neat in appearance.
Ability to be available for emergency callout and shift changes as required
Possession and maintenance of a valid, unrestricted Ontario Driver’s Licence, minimum Class “G”.
