Your Job Responsibilites:
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Activity Assistant is responsible for:
Assisting with the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure activities which contribute to the well-being of Next Step participants.
Group fitness class instruction, aquatic program supervision, individual exercise program supervision, maintenance of records and statistical data
Respond to requests for program information.
Flexible hours are periodically required for meetings, staff training and special events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications :
The successful candidate will be a graduate of a post-secondary program in recreation, gerontology, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, physical education or related field.
Group fitness certification and certified personal trainer with experience is necessary. Aquatic certification and experience is an asset.
You must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work in a team environment;
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a community recreation setting with older adults and individuals with disabilities
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and have the ability to work independently and in a team environment
Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Current CPR B and Emergency First Aid certification.
Candidates must provide a Criminal Records Search – Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Hours are split between two programs locations (South Common CC & Huron Park RC)
Hours of work are weekdays Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
This is a contract up to 12 months
Hours of Work : Up to 17.5 hours per week
Salary : 17.78 – 18.33
